Full Description

Ongoing major project announcements throughout the state mean that many lawyers – whether in private practice or acting as corporate counsel – need to grapple with some of the basic concepts of compensation for land acquisition to properly advise their clients. This Q&A Session is directed toward practitioners who have had limited exposure to the area of compulsory land acquisition, drawing on experience from Lisa Hannon – a member of the Valuation, Compensation and Planning Users Group in the Supreme Court, and the Land Valuation Stakeholders’ Group at VCAT who frequently acts both for acquiring authorities and dispossessed land owners in compulsory land acquisition claims – in managing compensation claims through to either negotiated resolution, or final determination.
